Youth Empowerment Through WE Day
Channel A TV Foundation: Inspiring the Next Generation of Change-Makers
Since its inception, Channel A TV Foundation has proudly served as an inaugural media partner with WE Day, a global youth empowerment movement that celebrates the positive impact young people are making in their local and global communities. Our foundation has been privileged to cover and participate in WE Day events in Seattle, New York, and California, inspiring thousands of youth to become agents of change in the world around them.
What is WE Day?
WE Day is a world-renowned celebration of youth activism, created by the WE Movement (formerly Free The Children). The initiative brings together tens of thousands of students who have earned their way through service and leadership into a powerful day filled with:
- Inspirational speakers
- A-list celebrity appearances
- Live musical performances
- Stories of real-world impact and global change
WE Day isn’t a ticketed event. Students earn their way in by taking action on one local and one global cause. It’s a celebration of their hard work and a launching pad for even greater community involvement.
Channel A TV Foundation’s Role
As a long-standing partner of WE Day, Channel A TV Foundation has played a critical role in highlighting the stories, voices, and achievements of young people from diverse backgrounds who are changing their communities through courage, creativity, and commitment.
Our involvement has included:
- Producing special WE Day broadcasts and segments on Channel A TV, reaching audiences across the U.S. and abroad.
- Interviewing young changemakers, educators, and influencers who are shaping the future through compassion and innovation.
- Offering media mentorship opportunities to youth interested in journalism, storytelling, and broadcasting.
- Amplifying youth-led causes through digital platforms and social media.
Empowering Youth Through Representation
We believe in the power of representation. Our presence at WE Day ensures that stories from underrepresented communities, especially youth from immigrant, African, and BIPOC backgrounds are elevated and celebrated. These youth not only attend the event but often become the story, showcasing how their voices, struggles, and victories contribute to the global movement for equality and justice.
A Lasting Impact
Many of the young people we’ve connected with during WE Day have gone on to:
- Start their own nonprofit organizations
- Launch school-based campaigns
- Advocate for policy change
- Pursue careers in public service, education, media, and activism
Through our coverage and collaboration with WE Day, we continue to inspire, mentor, and equip the next generation with tools to lead with empathy, courage, and action.
Looking Ahead
As WE Day evolves into virtual and hybrid platforms, Channel A TV Foundation remains committed to this mission of youth empowerment. We are expanding our outreach, partnering with schools and youth programs, and developing digital storytelling projects that allow young people to share their impact with the world.
